Why Play Music At All?

Often times, I see students get bogged down by trying to play the correct notes and rhythms. While that is important, they may begin wondering, "Why play music at all? It's almost like another class or exam."
1) After learning any song, you just know it and can play that song any day you want for the rest of your life. Whether you're having the worst day or a great day, there's a song for every emotion out there and you can turn to music to make it a bit better.
2) Performing can be exhilirating! You've worked so long and hard to learn those songs and now you finally get to play them on stage in front of a crowd. It's fully up to you on how you want to express yourself, your feelings, and your message for the world.
You can expose an audience to a set of brand new things that they've never thought of or bring a level of relatable charm that's warm and comforting.
3) Music is great for making friends. Most of my best lifelong friends were made through music in places like high school band, university music school, or at jazz clubs. There's so much to talk about between the lore of music history, how to play your instrument, the music industry, recording, and how to produce concerts.
l've also met some of the most incredible savants and virtuosos who can inspire you to take music to levels that you never thought was possible.
